Vacation Rentals located in Margate City

The very mention of bayberry bushes, sand dunes, cedars, holly, wild plums, wildlife, and sea birds creates a vivid picture of Margate City. The city, which got its name from the famous English seaside resort of Margate, is sandwiched between Ventnor and Longport along the New Jersey shore. Home to some of the finest restaurants, Margate city offers a picturesque view year round. Most of the restaurants are built around the bay side of the island. The interior of the town is spectacular. The most popular area is the "The Parkway" that is adorned by tree-lined grass and garden area on either sides and four magnificent fountains.

Margate City - Home of Lucy the Elephant

Lucy, the Margate elephant that was built 125 years ago by James Lafferty is a major tourist attraction here. This wood and tin elephant weighs ninety tons and is six stories high. Lucy is extremely popular among children who love to climb into the interior of her left rear leg, walk into her belly, know her history, and then come out of Lucy through her right rear leg.

Apart from the typical beach activities such as swimming, beachcombing, and fishing, early risers can also enjoy watching the sunrise over the horizon and walking along the soft powdery beaches listening to the calmness of the sea. Margate offers a host of recreational activities to tourists and has a miniature golf course, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Some of the best-known beaches in Margate include Argyle Ave, Brunswick Ave, Knight Ave, Osborne Ave, Thurlow Ave, Vendome Ave, and Clermont Ave.
